After my last post about Steve Huston's New Masters Academy videos, I thought I'd better post some of my drawings showing what I've gotten out of practicing along with Steve. This is a sheet of 5–10 minute drawings (on the video they're 1–2 minute poses, but I still have to slow down the playback to avoid just frantically scribbling to keep up) done on my own from the latest set of poses posted on YouTube by NMA (#26). Obviously a long way to go, but this is really helping me quickly put down the basics of a pose. Plus I'm getting better at finding the edges of shadows.
My drawing equivalent of the slice I always had when I played golf is that when I start with the head, by the time I get to the legs I've gradually enlarged things and the head looks too small. I'm proud to say I caught this in time in the lower more-finished drawing, and moved her left leg up. You can see where I originally drew the top of her thigh.
