New Show at EVP
I have a show of new paintings called “Street Scenes” up now at EVP Coffee on E. Washington Ave. and Baldwin St. in Madison. There are about 25 new worked painted in downtown Madison and Chicago, plus a few of my neighborhood (one of my house!). The show will run through the end of October.… Continue reading New Show at EVP
Finally, I’m back
Traincars III Sold Paterson St. Sold It’s been way too long since I posted anything. Here are a couple late winter, early spring plein air pictures, from the days of late February, standing in whatever spot of sun I could find, hoping for no wind, trying to finish so I could get home and get… Continue reading Finally, I’m back
Back in Class
Tomorrow I’ll be back at the Palette and Chisel in Chicago, portrait and figure painting and drawing. My teacher, Marci Oleszkiewicz, is part of an article on Chicago plein air painters in the February issue of American Artist magazine. It’s a nice story about the hardy group of painters that meet every Saturday morning year-round… Continue reading Back in Class
Commissions
Commissions. Several people who saw my show at EVP in October asked if I would paint a picture of their house for a present for their spouse. I did two houses on the eastside and both turned out very nicely. The clients really liked them. If you would like to commission a picture, please e-mail… Continue reading Commissions

Traincars II. Sold. This was my last picture before the big snows came in December. It was a beautiful late fall/early winter day–cold, but great for painting. The sky was a pure winter blue. Even now during the January thaw, the sky looks more like spring than winter. These two “buddies” were empty scrap metal… Continue reading Trains

Main St. II. $50. It was a dark day in more ways than one and I kept wanting to quit and go drink coffee, but I knew I’d feel better after I painted a picture, which I did. Since it was late afternoon when I started, the sun kept going down and at first the… Continue reading Untitled

Fall Tree. $65. This is the tree in front of my house, which of course I never really noticed until I was looking for something to paint a few weeks ago. By now all the leaves are on the ground. It was spectacular when I painted it, full of low sun.

Boat House. Sold. 8 x 10 inches, oil on panel. Another windy fall day, but I got behind a park shelter and was pleasantly out of the wind. This is the old boat house on Lake Monona, which for a long time was dark brown and leaned crazily, even after they “restored” it. This time,… Continue reading Untitled

Lake Monona. $45. 8×10 inches, oil on panel. This is Lake Monona with a nice orangish sky, from Marquette Park on a fall day when it threatened to rain at any moment, but never did. Many nice people came by and complimented me on the picture.
