W. Dayton St. Sold. 8×10 inches, oil on board. I painted this picture about a year ago. It’s the first picture I did where I just followed the shapes of light and shade and didn’t worry too much about making sure I was painting a house or a fence, etc. It’s the backyard of some student houses on W. Dayton St. in Madison. As I was painting, a guy came up and watched for awhile. When I asked him, “What do you think?” he went into a long tirade about how he had been kicked out of a class at the university. I guess I shouldn’t of asked.
