E. Main St. $45. 8×10 inches, oil on board. When I did the picture I was working on “vistas,” views that encompass a whole street into the distance, with buildings, cars, and sometimes people. These are difficult, and I’m still working on getting them right. As I worked, I became attracted to the orange sign in the middle, which is brighter in the painting than in the picture. This is the small business and factory strip on Madison’s eastside. You can just see the capitol in the distance on the right.
