I was back in class yesterday up in the 3d floor loft studio at the Palette & Chisel, painting a pear in 5 grayscale values. It was my first class with Michael Van Zeyl, highly-recommended still-life painting teacher at the academy. After working on my drawing skills for the past year and half, it’s time to move on to other painting essentials–value, edges, color, and composition. Next week, I’ll do the same pear in color. If all goes well, I’ll post the pear (of) paintings.
