Never Give Up

Two drawings from last night's quick-sketch at the Palette and Chisel. I was tired: I get up in the dark and travel over a hundred miles to make it to the morning session and now it was dark again after a long day in Chicago and the model was late for the evening session. After waiting an hour, drawing for two more, things were going downhill fast. I couldn't stop berating myself: “The proportions are all wrong!” “You're taking too long!” “Stop doing details!” And so on, resulting in the horrible drawing on the left. Then, finally, last drawing of the day, the picture above magically appeared. Same model, same amount of time, but much happier result. Sometimes you just have to keep at it.
