Untitled

W. Main St. $80. 8×10 inches, oil on panel. I did this picture late on a Friday afternoon after work at the end of a whole week of not painting. I was determined to paint, despite failing light, an unusually cold September day, lots of wind, and maybe rain. I had to stand behind a large railroad signal box to get out of the wind, and my hands were freezing. I put most of the picture in, and then waited for the sun to come out to get the bright highlights. After only about an hour, I’d had enough and packed up, thinking the picture was lost. Then I got home and whaddaya know, it turned out pretty nice. In fact, I really like this picture.
