I usually take some kind of workshop every summer, and this year I signed up for Chris Gargan's Life Drawing for Illustration class at MATC here in Madison. It runs for three weeks, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. I took the same class 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. So far it's been a great way to polish my life drawing skills, plus it's always fun to spend the day with other artists talking about art. One week to go.
This was a 10 minute drawing, started with a non-photo blue pencil and then gone over with an ink pen and then an ink wash for the values. I like the strong direction of the diagonal line from his bottom foot right up through his legs and right arm to his head, and then other diagonals radiating through his left arm, the arm of the chair, and the back legs of the chair. The size is 11 x 14 inches.
